What we do!

The youth workers enable young people, on the streets, or wherever they meet, to keep in touch with what is going on; support the young people and when required give advice and information.  Our target age range is 13 – 19, and a growing support role is one of sex and relationship education, including contraception advice and training.  We also act as a referral agency and offer support to young people, to enable them, to access support from other specialist agencies. 

Where we Work

Since 1998, Streets Ahead, has developed detached youth work to meet the needs of young people across the Island.  The work has developed from Summer work to having five teams of staff working throughout the year.  Recent locations for street youth work have included, Cowes, Ventnor, Pan Estate, Newport Centre, Ryde and Sandown.  The work continues to develop to meet the needs of young people, so the areas in which we work are constantly changing.
