Youth Consultation Survey
In April 2008 the Isle of Wight Council took over the management of the Connexions Service which joined with the Isle of Wight Council's Youth and community Service to form Youth Connexions.
To provide a co-ordinated, coherent and interated 21st century youth provison for all young people on the Island and raise the number of young people aged 13 to 19 attending youth provision, we need to restructure Youth Connexions. We can do this by increasing partnership working with schools, the voluntary sector, other agencies and the local community.
To help in this process it was decided to conduct a survey to find out what young people across the Isle of Wight need. The results of the survey will be used as part of the consultation to reorganise Youth Connexions from April 2010.
Please let us have your thoughts by completing the survey below, it should only take a few minutes and we value your time and feedback. The results of the survey will be published from the beginning of November on the Council's website www.iwight.com
You can complete the survey online by clicking on the link.
Please note if you are a young person aged 13 - 19 or up to 25 if you have a disability or learning difficulty, please complete the 'Young People's Version' by following the link.
The survey will be available online from 1 September until 11 Ocober 2009.
There are also copies and paper versions of the same online questionnaire being distributed to all the libraries on the Island and three 'question time' panels led by young people are to be held on 8th, 15th and 21st September. These will be based in high schools and will run from 15:30hrs to 17:00hrs, followed by an open session to members of the public, Local Management Committees and Town and Parish Councils to come along and hear what young people have debated; these will run from 17:30hrs to 19:00hrs.
These events will be recorded and additional school home transport is being provided.
A video diary room will be travelling around the Island to hear what children and young people have to say about having things to do and places to go, plus there is a facebook forum that is being established.
These events will culminate in the Big Day Out 2009 held at Moa Place in West Wight on Sunday 11 October.
